Svija & Cloud Services

Svija is based on the fact that there is a folder on your computer that matches exactly the folder that serves your website.

YOUR COMPUTER ‹—› YOUR WEBSITE

In order to make this clear to our users, we have named the two folders SYNC:

on your computer SYNC ‹—› SYNC on your website server

In order for this to function, the SYNC folder on your computer needs to actually have the files for your website.

Adobe Cloud Storage, Apple iCloud & Microsoft OneDrive

These services keep files in the cloud instead of on your computer.

This means that the SYNC folder on your computer can be incomplete. Some or all of the files are in the cloud and what you see in the folder are just references that contain no data.

Adobe Cloud Storage

Illustrator Files and images for your website must be in the SYNC folder, not in Cloud Storage.

Apple iCloud

Either:

  1. store your SYNC folder outside of your iCloud Drive
  2. uncheck “Optimize Mac Storage” in the iCloud System Settings

Safe places to store your SYNC folder include:

  • Home
  • Downloads
  • Desktop (if not in iCloud)
  • Documents (if not in iCloud)

Microsoft OneDrive

Microsoft OneDrive includes a setting called Files On-Demand, that is enabled by default.

If you use OneDrive, you must either:

  1. put your SYNC folder outside of OneDrive
  2. turn off Files On-Demand

You can tell if your SYNC folder is in OneDrive by looking at the address in WinSCP. If you see \Cloud or something similar in the address bar of WinSCP you will need to verify if your files are actually available.
